I decided to combine the ink well silhouette with the old paper. I also added a diary extract from the book in the background. I finally decided to keep it at an irregular (underground) angle. The book doesn't fit into a normal book shelf, as the Underground Man didn't fit into normal society.
This is a blog I created to chart my progress through my first year of art college. I started college in September, my first post was March....huh.

Graphics Ranking Project: Week 1
We have to research the design for a book cover of our choice. I chose Notes From Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. The protagonist is a sickly man, I imagine him looking like Christian Bale in "The Machinist"
He cuts himself off from society, hates everyone and anyone (one wonders why I love it so much). It was a great influence on the movie Taxi Driver (my favourite movie of all time). There are a whole lot of similarities between The Underground Man and Travis Bickle. Loneliness and paranoia are the themes most prominent in both book and movie.
